Mad March Racing demo goes great in Kelowna!

Published July 6, 2008 at 21:10
Shaums March and Marin Bikes came to town and went huge with a very successful bike skills camp.

Venture Gear of Kelowna and MTBco delivered good times for local riders. Marin Bikes brought a bunch of their demo full suspension rigs which riders of all ages and skill levels excitedly took advantage of. There were three skills camps - beginner, intermediate and advanced, and every one of them was rammed with demo rides. Following a bike fit and set up session for each rider, Shaums took the riders down Gillard's "Snakes Back" trail, a perfect choice as it is fairly mellow with a few hits to work on.

A girl, her new Transition Syren, & Kamloops Bike Camp

Published June 8, 2008 at 14:08
Mountain biking can be a tough sport for female riders to break into. We talk about progression, riding, coaching, and how things are changing for female riders.

Nicky is like many female riders - she got into mountain biking through her husband. However, in three seasons, she's gone from a timid noob who hadn't ridden a bike for twenty years to a confident intermediate rider. She knows what terrain she likes to ride, and now has that passion for mountain biking we can all relate to. Weekends are planned well in advance - who to ride with, and where. There's no time for long lazy days at the spa, a makeover, or shopping. It's all about riding the dirt, rock and gnar.

In Pursuit of Happiness - A new Life, new Friends and new Interests!

Published December 7, 2007 at 23:16
A NEW LIFE, NEW FRIENDS, AND NEW INTERESTS. - Mountain biking really can change your life.

A couple of years ago I landed in the 'new world' as a transplant from Europe. I had a few things I wanted to achieve in life, and top of that list was 'do more stuff'. I wasn't really sure what 'stuff' that would entail, and I hadn't really thought it through too much, but I guess I wanted it to be fun, cool, exciting, and maybe a little bit crazy. OK I admit it, to suit my legacy of mentalism and mayhem, I wanted pumping adrenaline, a rush, and the natural high of extreme sports.
